                                                     A VERY LONG HISTORY

For more than 7000 years, humans lived alongside rivers, in caves or on hills, and they learned every day to handle earth and fire. They also started making pots and pans to be used for preparing food. All this developed over the centuries leading to recreating todays modern ingenious objects such as those which are the fruit of love between Salernes and its clay and which are shown in different glass cases often holding real treasures.

For three centuries, generations of Salerner workers animated by the passion of their trade perpetuate this activity which is the mark of our town ?

You will discover their traditional workshops which have been recreated. You will also admire our extraordinary tile collection, from middleage to the 19th century with more then 2200 tiles to open fascinating univers.

There are masterpieces of high technology as well as examples of native popularart and they all relate the history of great humanity.

An unending history…

Beyond the permanent expositions several seasonal exhibitions showing today’s art will show to works of local potters and ceramists. A very special event will be the Biennale of Ceramic.
